Bonjour Baby Batiste!

So I've been in SF since Friday. Apologies for the Internat outage, and even more apologies if you happen to live in SF and I haven't seen you. I've been working, wedding showering and hanging out with a special little man who I realize has not yet made his Internat debut. So at the ripe age of 5 weeks, here he is:

As you know my middle name is babysnatcher, so naturally the birth of Baby Batiste, Dyani and Brice's little bi-lingual bebe, has made me batty (in the best way possible). I visited him last month when he was 6 days old; which I now realize was probably pretty inappropriate at the time since only family had visited, sorry Deej. He slept through approximately 99% of my first visit, a boy after my own heart. This time though, he was a whole new little man.

Since I consider all teammates sisters, I have already assumed the role of Tante Natalie and am gunning to be his favorite aunt by the time he can say "Oui!" Which, I may add, is probably going to be sooner rather than later since he is the product of an MD, DDS and PHD from Harvard. Anyway, I spent Friday afternoon strapped into the baby bijorn (watch out Deej, I could make a run for it with him) and bouncing around the house singing and dancing. Pretty much a typical afternoon for me anyway...aside from the 10lb nugget.

Clearly I insisted on seeing him again this visit, so Jess volunteered to host Baby's first dinner party, where I spent the evening bouncing Batiste with one hand and sipping low sodiYUM cioppino with the other. Heaven.

Congrats Jess and Jandro!

Jandro can quit his fishing cause he locked down quite a CATCH! (sorry, I couldn't help it). It appears to be raining diamond rings in California this summer...In a not-surprising but super-exciting turn of events, Jandro popped the question this weekend. I couldn't be happier for this little munchkin:
I can't wait to dance the Hora at their Mexican- Chinese- Jewish- Sodium-free wedding next summer!

Distance makes the heart grow fonder...

I landed in SF on Wednesday night and since then have been totally, completely, undeniably in love with this city (and all the people in it). From unbelievable sodium free sushi prepared by JGold on Friday night in the company of my fav SF ladies, to surprising Kit and Ryan to watch them become Dr. Newman and Dr. O'Malley at their graduation from UCSF, to a classic Izzy's steak with Bunny and Jess, the past 36 hours have been...well...fabulous. And it only gets better.

Sorry NYC, I guess I'm still a California girl.

This=Devestating

This is the worst news since the discontinuation of Domino Mag.

From today's SF Gate:

Organizers of the annual Bay to Breakers race, a 12K-run that starts at the Embarcadero and ends at Ocean Beach, have announced that this year there will be a major crackdown on the drunken, costumed revelry that trails the real runners.

For 97 years the race has traversed San Francisco -- most recently trailed by thousands of intoxicated (and often naked) participants pushing festive keg-toting floats.

This year, there will be a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol and all floats, according to a news release from sponsor ING.

This is terrible, horrible, no-good news. So many great memories from that race, especially the notorious Noah's Arc year, when we were interviewed by the paper about why our arc broke completely before mile 2 and Dusty told them we were Cal Engineering students....

However it does make me feel a little better about not living in SF anymore.

Irish Goodbye'ing SF.

This sucks. I normally would throw a huge party for myself with an obnoxious theme and invite everyone I know in SF (and lots of people I don't know) to celebrate my coming, going, coming of age, or whatever. But as Dary said, you can't throw a goodbye party where more than half of the invite list won't have seen you since your welcome home party. True story. So, instead, I had an intimate goodbye dinner, in the same location with mostly the same attendees as the welcome home dinner 3 months ago. And that's it. Somehow with less people there, it was more sad. Maybe with a larger group the emotion would have disappated. But instead, after 2 hours of tacos and the requisit stop to the Cougar Den a patient cab driver waited 20 minutes on Washington b/w Franklin and Gough as Neva and I sobbed and sniffled into each other's peacoats. Boo.
